Water, Vibration and Consciousness! The effects of Mantra and Visualisation in your Sadhana.

How are we affected by waves of sound and light ? My fascination with that has started when i was in my twenties. At that time i was studying the field of resonance of the human body ( the electromagnetic bio field) for my Master Degree on one side while at the same time i had embarked on my yoga journey that incorporated a fairly good amount of meditation , mantra chanting and visualisation technniques .

In yoga both Sound /Mantra and Visualisation/Dharana Darshan are used to access the subconscious mind that makes up 95 % of our neural activity and shapes our reality. By shifting bit by bit from unconscious to more conscious beings we become masters of our lives. It’s a slow process but worthwhile having a deeper look at the forces at play.

MAntra and visualisation are powerful techniques to reprogram the subconscious mind!

If we think about sound as vibration, we know from the modern branch of physics ( quantum Physics) that everything vibrates and that solid matter is only an illusion. If we could see at the level of molecules, atoms and particles we would see no boundaries and only continuous movement.

What has water to do with vibration, consciousness and sound? Resonance is the answer.

In fact we are mainly constituted of water ( from a staggering 99% when we float in our mother’s womb to 70% when we reach adulthood). We all know about the ripple effect of a pebble thrown in a still pond. We can see waves propagating in all directions from the centre to the peryphery. We all understand waves of water so it’s intuitive for our brain to translates from water to the level of human being.

How water propagates information is a more subtle phenomenon. Water is informed by vibration. It resonates and therefore re-organizes itself at a structural level to reflect this information. This is quite an amazing behaviour , it means that water can “see” and “hear”. Does water have consciousness? this has not been answered yet but surely water carries consciousness !

Apart from being one of the most potent existing solvent, water carries energy around the body ( and the planet ) in the form of nutrients. Not only that: water has also the capability to copy, memorize and carry information . Water responds to sound, words, music, pictures and to the state of mind of the people that come in contact with her.

Sound is a wave that moves the air. It has the power to create a concept, an image in our mind so we can somehow convert sound into an image. In sanskirt sound is harnessed to mold and reprogram the subconscious mind. That type of practice is called Shabda Yoga ( the Yoga of Sound) and makes use of Mantras , that are either seed sounds or words or short sanskrit phrases.

Shabda , literally translates as sound that is spoken , written word or sound that is repeated only in the mind. The effectiveness of Shabda Yoga stands in the fact that sound affects us at the molecular level and from the conscious level sound penetrates and reverberates to the unconscious layers of the mind.

Light is an em wave travelling in void and is even more subtle than sound. The optic nerve feeds more than 50% of information to the brain when in the wakeful state, and therefore is a powerful doorway into the domain of consciousness.

So both the use of sound ( in particular mantra chanting) and visualisation are tools to access the intangible subconscious mind .

I’m incredibly fascinated by the utter relevance of these ancient techniques to the modern living. Water , Vibration and consciousness are all related when we look at things from a different perspective. When we meditate we shift from a level of perception to a different one by changing the frequency of our brainwaves.

Let’s have a look at brain waves frequncies in detail when we meditate or are in a meditative state (that doesn’t necessarily means that we are sitting like statues with the eyes shut) . In particuar when meditating we are in the range of Alpha ( 8-12 HZ) or Tetha waves ( 4-8 HZ), while when we reason we are in the range of Beta waves ( 12-35 HZ) . When sleeping the frequency of our brain waves shifts to Delta (0.5 – 4 HZ) and in peak performance we experience the just newly discovered Gamma Waves ( > 35 HZ) . These different frequency of vibration of our brain waves affects ourselves and the EMF surrounding us.

Alpha brain waves are present in deep relaxation and usually when the eyes are closed, when you’re slipping into a lovely daydream or during light meditation. It is an optimal time to program the mind for success and it also heightens your imagination, visualization, memory, learning and concentration.

Theta brain waves are present during deep meditation and light sleep. It is the realm of your subconsciousness.

The Field is a vibratory electromagnetic field that surrounds us and that is influenced by our essence. We are affected by the field, and in turn we shape it. In reality we make the field and we cannot unplug from it as we cannot disconnect matter from energy and the two are not distinct.

Through meditation we become better human beings as we become gradually more conscious. It has being proven and measured that the field around group of meditators affected the area around them so that there was a considerable drop in crime rate in that area. This is only one of the positive effects of meditation on you an on those around you

If we could see those bundles of energy that we call particles we would see no distinction between objects as we would see no boundaries but just a sea of vibrating atoms.

If we could see those waves of energy that emanate from us and all living beings our perception of reality would shift and we would live our lives in a very different way.

  1. Mind Blowing. Yes pun intended. I am in the Dementia field and have recently determined that it’s the vibration of water that sadly attracts individuals who have “eloped” from the safety of their residence and who almost always drown. I knew it couldn’t be by accident that they are drawn to canals even if they aren’t in their immediate back yard. Your article was extremely informative and enlightening. Thank you.
